Teaching

Jan 2005 – Aug 2006 – Senior Lecturer (.5), University of Sunderland.  Taught Performing Arts and Drama top-up students, directed student productions, personal tutor, supervised dissertations.  Writer/teacher on international HIV-AIDS drama project in Lesotho with students and staff from Sunderland, South Africa, USA and Lesotho and villagers in the Malealea Valley.  Spoke and led workshops at international conferences in Edinburgh and Liverpool. 

2003-4 – Visiting Lecturer, University of Sunderland.  Introduction to Drama and Theatre Arts, Contemporary Theatre Practice for the 21st Century Actor and Director, Arts in the Community.   Piscator, Brecht, Dario Fo, Feminist Theatre, reviewing arts and entertainment. 

1999-2000 – PT Lecturer, Drama and Performing Arts, Newcastle College.  Taught acting and directing.  Directed the HND students in Edward Bond’s Human Cannon.
 
1993-95 – PT Lecturer, Performing Arts, North Tyneside College.  Taught voice, acting, directing, worked on three productions (voice and directing.)

1985 - Senior Lecturer (Assoc.), Visual and Performing Arts, Newcastle Polytechnic, now the University of Northumbria.  Taught creative writing, acting (Stanislavsky, Meyerhold, Brecht), community theatre, TIE, supervised third year projects, contributed to the ‘Arts, Society and Community’ module. 

1984 and 1986-93 – PT and Visiting Lecturer, Newcastle Polytechnic/University of Northumbria.  Creative writing, acting, voice and movement, advisor for third year projects. 

Visiting Lecturer at University of Lancaster with Albert Hunt, Stockton and Billingham College of Further Education, Gateshead College.

1981-3 – TEFL teacher, German Development Service, Berlin.  I was a member of the Asian and African teams.
